I really love these fruit pillows from Jonathan Adler's Junior collection. I know they hail from the children's line, but I want to pop them on my grown-up sofa this very instant. They're sleek and playful at the same time.

Are you guys as excited about a few days off as I am? S and I are finally staying at home after a few weekends away. We are so ready to catch up with NYC and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation.

We're starting the weekend off right with a happy Friday cocktail hour and a tasty pizza dinner (hello diet cheat day!). I'm also really excited for S to try his first. lobster. roll. ever.

Pretty frocks

Tibi's beautiful dresses always draw me in...and then immediately send me running when I peek at the price tag. Still, their modern, feminine pieces in bright, cheerful patterns never fail to take my breath away.

I've been fighting the one shoulder trend pretty hard this time around, but this dress's detail is so special that I've been thinking of every possible occasion that might warrant such fancy duds. Check it out in white...

New York Mag's Eat Cheap 2010

I have a huge crush on New York Mag. Every week, I look forward to opening my tiny mailbox and finding it there patiently waiting for me (thanks to sweet S for the subscription!).

This week is the annual Cheap Eats edition and while I'm totally stoked to see tasty Southern fare from eateries such as Pies-N-Thighs and Commodore leading the charge (desperate to try both!),

I'm also really excited about...MEATBALLS! This obsession of mine is hardly my most feminine, but what can I say? A good meatball is hard to beat!

How tasty does this meatball slider from Kenmare look? It's just a teensy little bite!

Motorino's classic looking trio? Yes, please!

Whoa. This sandwich is from Mia Dona's very own meatball cart (located just outside its more formal restaurant's doors) and is apparently served on focaccia. Motherload.

Summer skincare tips

Summer (particularly in dirty NYC) really does a number on the skin. It's hot and humid, but my skin is too sensitive to overwash so what's a girl to do?

As I've mentioned before, I'm obsessed with products so... here's my tried and true summer skin regimen.


1. Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash

This face wash is by far the best I've ever used. It's light and refreshing, but still gives you a great cleanse. It's also great for sensitive skin as it doesn't over dry. Want to know the best part? It's only $4.99...even in NYC! That's right. After spending hundreds of dollars over the past few years on face wash by Kiehl's, Bliss and beyond, the winner can be picked up at good old Walgreens. I LOVE when that happens.

2. Clinique Clarifying Lotion

I've been using Clinique since I was 14 and my Mom took me to the counter to buy my first ever make-up. While I've since expanded my horizons to include other beauty brands, Clinique's Clarifying Lotion is still the bomb. This stuff is magical! It tightens your pores and absorbs any excess oil (ew!). Be sure to purchase carefully as it comes in different levels for different skin types. Personally, I'm a Level 2.

3. Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Mosturizer

This lightly rose-scented (yummy!) mosturizer keeps skin hydrated but never, ever oily. It's also true to its name and keeps working hours after you apply it. I recevied this as a free sample from Sephora a few weeks ago due to earning enough loyalty points (oops!). I plan on purchasing the big daddy jar this very afternoon. It's totally worth the price.

Gorgeous Gwyneth

Isn't Gwyneth adorable in the August issue of Vogue? I know her newsletter Goop can be a dash heavy handed from time to time, but the truth is, I've been rocking a pretty hard girl crush on her since around the 7th grade. Her style is absolutely flawless and I think most of us girls would kill for those stems!


The article focuses on her love of cooking and how her culinary interests stemmed directly from her close relationship with her father. Her cookbook, My Father's Daughter, is coming out in Spring 2011 and shares some her father's favorite recipes the two once prepared together. I have no doubt it will be added to my already monstrous cookbook collection.

Happy (early) weekend

It's only Thursday and I'm already humming a happy weekend tune. I'm finally making a trip back home to visit my wonderful family and check in on a dear old friend who has a bun in the oven.

I haven't been home to good ol' Mississippi in a few months and I'm not sure where the time has gone. I'm really looking forward to a nice visit. In the meantime, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend filled with sunshine, tasty food and wonderful company!
