home & hill magazine

Yo, Tennesseans! Have you guys heard of the new quarterly magazine home & hill?

The quarterly publication is "a medley of in-depth cultural essays, culinary insights, travel literature and music features." In a similar vein as the popular Kinfolk, home & hill focuses exclusively on the Volunteer State.

pretty paintings

It's no surprise that Nashville is home to some amazing, interesting artists. Our neighbor and sweet friend Kelly happens to be one of them. In addition to making a mean panzanella, she's an amazing painter with a new collection.

This very Saturday evening she will be showcasing her latest works as part of the Wedgewood-Houston Art Crawl. Her works will be on display in The Merrit Mansion. Here's a peek at what you will see:

Visit her charming website here.

The Art Crawl runs from 5-9:30. Participating galleries include Fort Houston, Zeitgeist and more. There will also be delicious food and wine along the way.

caitlin rose

Kicking this week off listening to Nashville's own Caitlin Rose. Her most recent albums "Own Side Now" and "The Stand-In" (2013)  have been on repeat around our house as of late.

flats for fall

Labor Day has come and gone which means it's time to put away those sandals and hide those toes.

Since it's hardly boot weather here in Nashville, I opt for a swell pair of the above "skimmers" (read: flats if you aren't Madewell's website).

They are quite elegant aren't they? They look like a shoe Katherine Hepburn might wear.

green juice: a love letter

In the chaos that was this summer (seriously, where did it go?), I found myself jumping on the juicing train in a big way.

Those of you who know me know can vouch for the fact that I have at most times in my life been the farthest thing from a health nut. Still, on the eve of opening a PIZZA restaurant, I found myself craving extra energy to get through this wild season in our lives. Surprisingly, I found that very thing from cleaning up what I was shoving into my trap.

Inspired by Mark Bittman's recent book VB6 (Vegan Before Six), I decided to give the famous foodie's approach to eating a chance. What's the plan then? Simple. You eat vegan until 6 p.m. each day.  This very regimen helped him lose over 30 lbs.

moustache up!

Hello out there.

Do you have kids? Do you know someone who does? Are you a big kid yourself? Do you enjoy facial hair?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions may I suggest that you pick up a copy of Moustache Up! the latest children's book written by yours truly and illustrated by my dear pal D.

Not only is it fun for even the youngest of kiddos, but it comes with press out moustaches of all shape and size.

Purchase your copy here. Do it! You know you want to.

vintage globe lights

Aren't these vintage globe lights amazing?

Our little family has been up to our eyeballs opening a restaurant over the past months and one of the fun tasks on our lists was combing Etsy and other vintage sites for colorful globe lighting to complete the interior.

Through this process, I've found myself yearning for a toned down version of these lights for our new house.

Pinterest has a limited offering of the look above so let's just drool over a few more images of this rad kitchen shall we?
