tristen

Starting this week off by listening to Tristen on repeat. The Illinois native and current Nashville resident's 2011 album Charlatans at the Garden Gate is most definitely my jam.

We caught Tristen live last spring when she opened for Justin Townes Earle at Webster Hall back in NYC. While the show was great, I only recently rediscovered her songs.

The track "Baby Drugs" has a deliciously retro feel that at certain moments reminds me of Ronnie and the Ronnettes with a kick of Loretta Lynn-style twang. "Eager for Your Love" brings to mind shades of early R.E.M. and Feist. I also really like to run to it. "Avalanche" and "Doomsday" are also favorites.

In short, it's peppy enough to keep you motivated while working, but also makes a great soundtrack for springtime afternoons filled with warm breezes, open windows and (hopefully) a delicious glass of rosé.

Happy listening, dear ones!
