I've always been a bit boring when it comes to nail polish. Maybe it was my mother's refusal to let my junior high self experiment with the wild nail colors from Hard Candy circa 1997, but I've pretty much stuck to OPI's Bubble Bath on hands and toes for as long as I can remember.

Now, Chanel's khaki-inspired neutral nail shades for fall have got me thinking it might be time for a change.

Khaki Brown and Khaki Rose? Yes, please! While I like the idea of the Khaki Green, I think I'll keep that color off my nails and on my clothes. How about these cute pants? I'm loving this whole look. Work it, Posh Spice.

Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk

After finishing the first two of the three books in Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy, I'm ready for something a little more lighthearted. Luckily, David Sedaris's new book Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk goes on sale next week.

The characters in this book may be animals, but according to early reviews, their adventures are apparently quite human.

With illustrations by Ian Falconer, the man behind the classic children's series Olivia, (cough, cough), I'm expecting great things.

suede sandal search

The suede sandal is perfect for this transitional time of year. The mornings are getting cooler, but the afternoons are still warm enough that the thought of wearing boots sounds terribly uncomfortable.

My extensive search for this fall staple lead to some really fun discoveries.... like this cutout Miu Miu sandal. The unexpected color is fantastic. The problem? They cost $650. Ouch.

This J. Crew version is adorable. How great are the green details? Still, at $298 they were out of my price range.

The solution? Surprisingly, Banana Republic. Their Lady suede peep toe heels are just the ticket, and with a much more reasonable price tag, they are a splurge I can enjoy.

Studly

A chic coworker of mine has recently been sporting a gold, studded bracelet to meetings. Her fashion forward style has me considering the addition of a studded piece or two to my own closet.

To successfully pull off this trend one must incorporate studded pieces carefully and always limit studs to one area at a time. No one wants to step out looking like Melanie Griffith in Working Girl (before hot, young Harrison Ford/makeover).
