a new year

It's a new year! Don't you just love the feeling of a fresh start?

Since my birthday also falls in January, this time of year always seems like the ideal moment to set some new goals and add new dreams to the wish list.

Before diving into what lies ahead, I wanted to take a moment to talk about what this last year has been.

As those of you who have been reading the ol' blog for several years probably noticed, my frequency of posting decreased a ton in 2013. The posts that did make it up included very few personal details or commentary.

After taking some time to reflect, I realized that has a lot to do with the fact that the chaos of our lives recently left us with very little time to reflect on anything in any capacity. It was really taking its toll.

Before we say good-bye to last year, I wanted to share a few important milestones from the most bonkers year of our lives. Read on for a brief (or not so brief...) 2013 recap if you fancy hearing more...

Two Boots Nashville

As I've hinted over the past months, S and I moved from NYC in 2012 to bring Two Boots Pizza to Nashville.

I can't say that we had ANY idea what we were getting into when we made the move, but I'm over-the-moon excited to share that Two Boots Nashville has been officially serving tasty pizza to Music City since July 2013!

I've never been more proud of my husband who left his job at Columbia to pursue a lifelong dream of working for himself. It hasn't always been easy or pretty, but I'm happy to say that he has become quite the dashing pizza man.

This experience has taught us more about our marriage and ourselves than we ever expected. We are insanely grateful for each other, our supportive families, loving friends and the amazing warm welcome Nashville has given us.

A New House

We love our neighborhood here in Nashville. We made up our minds about Germantown long before we made the journey South. After renting in the neighborhood for less than a year, the most charming little Victorian house went on the market a few blocks previous address.

After years of dreaming of buying (but not being able to thanks to insane NYC costs!), we took yet another plunge and bought our first home. We made an offer the same day which was lucky because apparently seven other people did as well!

Here's a shot of the casa during a recent snow. Isn't she a beaut?

We are mad about the tall ceilings, abundant fireplaces, hardwood floors and the other charming details that come with an old home (it was built in 1910).

Germantown is already great (beautiful houses, amazing restaurants, interesting neighbors, pretty views of the Nashville skyline), but the hood has been on fire as of late.

Tons of residential spaces are being renovated or built new. A baseball stadium is slated to go in across the street beside the capitol and a new beer garden is set to debut only two blocks from our house! We are loving being part of a neighborhood where we plan to really plant our roots.

Baby B

In October, we found out... that we are pregnant! May I share the most adorable profile I've ever seen?

We are into the 4th month and expect to find out if we are having a little he or a little she on Valentine's Day. We can hardly wait to welcome this little bean to the fam during the first week of July.

We are nervous and excited and feel so very lucky.

Here's to a swell year! I'm looking forward to a few new projects, writing more, living a more present life, traveling and, most importantly, meeting our kid!

Let's do this 2014 : )
