the otheroom

Currently, my favorite bar in NYC is the otheroom on Perry Street in the West Village.

The second in entrepreneur Craig Weiss's "room" bars (preceeded by the original room in Soho and followed closely by anotheroom in Tribeca), this relaxed, intimate space is the ideal spot to catch up with girlfriends or to grab a romantic after dinner drink.

This small, cozy space features brick walls covered with local artists' work. There is a steel bar surrounded by plush stools and slouchy couches.

This nook is exceptionally low-lit with most of its lighting coming from the subtly scented candles placed all over both of the otheroom's, well, rooms.

You can always count on the bar's music selection to be spot on, focusing mostly on alt rock favorites past and present.

Know before you go? The otheroom only serves beer and wine, and it's cash only.

Not sure what to order? Browse the interesting drink menu listed on a chalkboard to the left of the bar.

I highly recommend the Kir Royale.
